I just came across a free service made available by Google called Notebook LM. This service provides an interface which is capable to read content from files and answer questions in a chat-based interface. It is very useful for querying large documents for specific content, instead of going through the whole document.
The interface is quite simple. You have a section where you can upload your documents, and once they are uploaded you have chat where you can ask questions about the content of the files uploaded. I decided to give a try with a scientific research paper titled The Prompt Report: A Systematic Survey of Prompting Techniques. I have downloaded the full PDF of this research paper, which contains 80 pages.
After uploading the document I was able to starting asking questions.
My first question was: How can I make a prompt that will give me an answer in a specific format, like JSON?
The result was very good. Not only the AI was capable of giving me a good answer based on the content of the paper, it also provided links to the sections of the paper the answer was based.
As you can see, with just a few steps you can setup you own AI capable of providing information about different external sources and reduce your time and effort to access relevant knowledge.
Hope you liked the reading.
